CRS Group was founded in May 2026 by Tom Cockle, after more than two decades spent learning the insurance business from both sides. Tom started in the construction trades, then spent eighteen years in commercial insurance, working with the kinds of businesses that don’t fit neatly into a standard underwriting box.
Over those years, one thing became clear: most businesses get insurance that’s been built for someone else. The coverage is generic, the service is slow, and the agency on the other end doesn’t really understand how the business operates. Tom built CRS Group to be the opposite of that, a modern agency that does the work to understand each business, and runs an operation fast enough to actually be useful.
The name says it plainly. CRS, Construction Risk Specialists, reflects where the firm’s deepest expertise began. CRS Group reflects where it’s going: a commercial agency serving businesses across construction, professional services, manufacturing, hospitality, and beyond.
