Where we started
and where our
passion remains

Construction Insurance for Nebraska Contractors CRS Group was built on. Builder's risk, surety, the contract requirements that come with every project, and the workers' compensation realities of a jobsite workforce. We understand the trades because of our experience and commitment to serving them.

why it matters

Construction insurance
is its own discipline

Construction carries exposures that most commercial insurance never touches. Coverage that has to follow a project from groundbreaking to completion. Contracts that dictate specific limits, additional insured language, and waivers of subrogation. Bonding requirements that depend as much on your financial statements as on the work itself. Workers’ compensation classifications that change with the trade and the task.

Getting it wrong is expensive. A missing endorsement, a sub-limit that doesn’t match the project value, a certificate that doesn’t satisfy the general contractor’s requirements, any of these can stall a project or leave a gap exactly where the exposure is greatest. We do this work every day, and we build construction programs that hold up under the contracts and the claims.

THE TRADES WE SERVE

Coverage built for
your trade

Each trade carries its own risk profile, coverage priorities, and contract realities. Here's how we approach the seven we work with most.

GCs carry the broadest exposure on most projects: responsibility for the work, the subs, and the site. We focus on the wrap-up considerations, subcontractor default exposure, project-based coverage that scales with the job, and the surety relationships that let you bid the work you want. The program is built to satisfy owner requirements and lender conditions without gaps.

Boring, drilling, gas and water line work, fiber and underground utilities. This is high-exposure work, gas line strikes, locate-ticket disputes, and the serious-injury potential that comes with working underground. We understand the specific exposures of underground work and the coverage and risk-management approach that the trade requires. Tom’s leadership in NUCA Nebraska comes directly from this world.

Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, finish carpentry, painting, and drywall are trades that do specialized work as part of a larger project. Often smaller crews, valuable tools and equipment, and completed-operations exposure that follows the work for years. We build coverage around the equipment that earns the revenue and the liability tail that comes with skilled work.

Demolition, fencing, scaffolding, glazing, signage, and the specialty trades that don’t fit a standard mold. These businesses are often underserved by generalist agencies that don’t understand the specific hazards of the work. We take the time to understand the operation and place it with carriers who write the class knowledgeably.

Signatory contractors operating under collective bargaining agreements, with prevailing wage requirements, multi-employer benefit considerations, and reporting obligations that come with union work. We understand the coverage and compliance realities specific to signatory contractors and structure programs that fit the union environment.

Paving, concrete, grading, and the public-works contractors who build the infrastructure. DOT requirements, prevailing-wage compliance, traffic-control exposure, and the bonding capacity that public bidding demands. We understand the financial and coverage structures that public work requires and build programs that keep you eligible to bid.

Roofing and framing carry some of the highest exposure in construction: height work, weather dependence, crew turnover, and a market that many carriers are reluctant to write. We know this is a hard class to place, and we work with the carriers who write it knowledgeably rather than treating it as an automatic decline. Both commercial and residential.

HOW WE HANDLE CONSTRUCTION

What construction clients get

01/

Coverage that follows the project

Builder's risk structured for the work, GL with the additional insured and waiver language your contracts require, and the certificate turnaround that keeps you from getting held up at the gate. The coverage matches the project, not a calendar year.

02/

Bonding that grows with you

Surety relationships and the financial-statement work that builds bonding capacity over time. We work with your CPA on the presentation that supports the program, so the capacity is ready before you need it. (See our Surety page for more.)

03/

Risk management for the jobsite

As CRS Group's risk management programs develop, construction clients get access to safety resources and the curated network of construction-focused attorneys, CPAs, and safety consultants that Tom has built. When a client needs more than insurance, we can make the introduction.
